Introduction

Anna University is a government university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is recognized by the UGC as a “University with Potential for Excellence” (UPE) and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by the NAAC. As per the NIRF 2023 rankings, Anna University is the 18th best university to study in India. Anna University offers 29 UG, 90 PG, and Doctorate level courses under 8 faculties and over 30 departments on its campus. Apart from full-time regular courses, Anna University offers distance learning courses through its Centre for Distance Education. Anna University is quite popular for its B.E/B. Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, and MBA courses. However, the acceptance rate of Anna University is around 29%.

 

Anna University Courses and Fees

Anna University offers 29 UG, 90 PG, and Research courses. The courses are offered in the fields of Engineering, Science, Management, Architecture, Humanities, etc. The eligibility criteria and fees for each course are mentioned below:

 

B Tech– In order to be eligible for  the course a student must pass his/her +2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Fees for 1st year INR 55,000.

 

B.Arch– In order to be eligible for the architectural course a student requires passing +2 examination with 50% aggregate marks. Fees for first year is INR 87,000.

 

B.E–In order to be eligible for the course a student requires to pass +2 examination  with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and have at least 50% marks in aggregate.

 

MTech– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a B.E/B.Tech degree in relevant discipline with at least 50% marks.Fees for the first year is INR 60,000

 

M.E– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a B.E/B.Tech degree in relevant discipline with aa least 50% marks. Fees for first year is INR 60,000.

 

M.Sc– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least  50% aggregate. Fees for first year is INR 41,000.

 

MBA– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least  50% aggregate. Fees for first year is INR 41,000.

 

MCA– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a degree in BCA with at least 50% marks. Fees for the first year is INR INR 41,000.

 

MPhill– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a MA OR M.Sc degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.

 

Phd– In order to be eligible for the course a student requires a Master’s Degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

Anna University Admissions 2024

Anna University’s admission process is completely online. The university conducts UG & PG admissions under Single Window Counselling every year covering about 1.50 lakh candidates. Admission to all courses (Except M.Sc) at Anna University courses is done based on scores obtained in the entrance examination followed by counseling.

Candidates applying for admission at Anna University must follow the step-by-step process mentioned below to fill out the application form:

  3. Fill out the application form for the course you want to join.
  4. Upload your photograph and other required documents.
  5. Pay the application fee. Different modes of payment are available.
  6. Shortlisted candidates will be called for further process (GD/PI).

Once selected, candidates are required to pay the course fee to confirm their seat.

Anna University Scholarships

Anna University provides Merit-cum-Means Scholarship / Post-Matric Scholarships to its students. The university also provides scholarships to the economically weaker students. Students can also avail of the various scholarships offered by the state and central government.

 

  • Merit-cum-means Minority Scholarship– Meritorious students who belong to Muslim, Christian, Sikh, and Buddhist can apply. Family annual income should not exceed INR 2.5 lakhs.

 

  • Central Sector Scheme of scholarship– Students who have scored 80% in their 10+2 level and have 75% attendance in 1st year.

 

  • MBC/BC Scholarship– Students who belong to backward categories and their family annual income is less than INR 2 lakhs.

 

  • SC/ ST Scholarship– Family annual income is not more than INR 2.5 lakhs. Essential proof is needed from Tahsildar.

 

TN Educational Trust Scholarship– Students enrolled in UG and PG courses. Family annual income is not more than INR 2.5 lakhs.

Anna University Facilities

  1. Computing: Anna University provides a specialized computing center to satisfy all the computational and technological requirements. The computing centers are enhanced for the students.
  2. Library: The University provides a central library that consists of a limitless collection of required books, and journals, in the order of over 1.5 lakh, and digital learning services. There is also access to a range of exclusive e-books & journals which can be accessed through the Digital Knowledge Centre.
  1. Wifi: The University & its constituent colleges have a 24*7 high-speed wifi connection for students to stay connected to the internet.
  1. Students Amenities Centre: The Students Amenities Centre provides several services to fulfill student needs that include facilities to take printouts, and photocopies, as well as to do their laundry.
