Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) is a public research institute established in 1961 and inaugurated by Humayun Kabir, the Minister of Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs at the time. The Institutes of Technology Amendment Act, 1963 declared the institute as an Institute of National Importance and granted it the status of a full university, granting it the authority to establish its academic policies, administer its examinations, and award its degrees.
IITD provides a Bachelor of Technology in nine subject areas, including Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics and Computing, Mechanical Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, and Textile Technology. The main campus of IIT Delhi is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, along with two satellite campuses in Sonipat and Jhajjar.
